Chantelle Davis - Gray | Small Business Feature

I am so glad that I was able to interview Chantelle for my monthly small business feature because a lot of what she does hits very close to home for me, and I hoped that it would be very helpful for some of the lovely ladies that read my blog to hear about and maybe use to as well.  She helps women take care of themselves to live better and who doesn't want to live better!

So ladies, without further hesitation I want to introduce to you Chantelle Davis - Gray.

What made you start your business?
The catalyst was a few years ago when a family member had a big health scare.  I realized that I didn't want to waste any more time letting the stress of my job hurt my health.  I wanted to have energy and feel good in my body.  When I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with the next phase in my career, I kept coming back to nutrition and wellness.  I wanted to help other people feel better in their lives.  It really is what they say: listen to what keeps calling you.  I followed my interest - the things I read about online when I was supposed to be doing other things - and, after a lot of consideration, I decided to go back to school to become a health + lifestyle coach.

What would you define as your greatest success thus far within your business?
It has been amazing to help my clients have "a-ha" moments regarding their health or happiness.  One client had been struggling with a lot of inflammation and painful joints, and she discovered that when she stopped letting her creative deadlines takes over her day [ie. forgetting to eat or drink until 3pm], and started nourishing her body, it made a huge difference in reducing the pain.  At a workshop, another woman realized that she was having sugar cravings at night because she wasn't having any joy during the day - the sweets were the only thing making her smile - by adding some fun back to her life, her cravings lessened.  Each client has their own path to go down, and I am honored to join them as a support system.

Any advice you have to offer young girls or women?
Find activities and people that nourish you! Stay curious until you find them. We are fed by more than just the food on our plates, and in order to feel truly full in or lives, we need all of it.  We need supportive friendships and joyful movement [ie. exercising in a fun way], just as much as getting enough protein.  You need to find ways to relax, because if you're always in super-stressed mode, you will never feel like cooking dinner, so you get takeout every night.  When you're getting enough sleep, you're more likely to go for a walk after work.  In countless ways, mind and body health are connected and dependent on each other, so you need to care for both.

Is there anything you want clients to know about working with you?
I work with busy women via video-chat or phone, so location doesn't matter - some do it on lunch break at work, others do it from home - it's more flexible to not have to drive to the appointment.  I tailor my coaching to each individual, so there's no formula or template for the information and guidance I share - it all depends on what my client needs and wants.  I'm a compassionate, candid coach!  I don't pretend to eat kale 24-7, I'm realistic and practical with my guidance, and that includes no counting calories.  I'm a big believer in progress, not perfection, because to be sustainable, it's the little things that add up.
